Something short for Sunday

I’ve had some ups and downs the past few weeks.

So I’m trying to remember the advice from a teacher I heard years ago. This is paraphrased:

Keep your back strong, and heart open.

This was right before smart phones became so common, so it wasn’t just a comment about technology.

It’s about how the slings and arrows of daily life, the headlines, and the messy humans in our life can have us doubled over, tired of the weight of caring, trying to protect our heart.

It’s the practice of a lifetime to keep our heart open. Especially when challenges show up at our door and the world continues to change.

It’s the practice of a lifetime, not a one and done decision to hold yourself up with a basic respect for yourself, and hold others in respect.

That’s what I’m working on this week.

Back strong, heart open.

Thanks for some of your precious time and attention today.

In peace,

Juniper

Thank you to the First Nations of what is now called Western Montana: the Bitterroot Séliš (Salish), the Ql̓ispé (Kalispel), and the Ksanka (Kootenai) - you can read more about all 3 nations on their website.

I also want to give thanks to the Amskapi Piikani (Blackfeet) and the Apsáalooke (Crow) First Nations because I’ve been to and enjoyed their traditional homelands in recent years. Many thanks for your hospitality.
